About Rob Gregory Browne

Rob Gregory Browne
About Me:
Robert Gregory Browne is a former screenwriter who decided to pursue his lifelong desire to write a novel. KISS HER GOODBYE was the result of that pursuit, released in 2007 by St. Martin's Press in the U.S., Pan Macmillan in the UK, and Droemer Knaur in Germany.

After fulfilling a two-book deal with St. Martin's with his second thriller, WHISPER IN THE DARK, Rob signed another two-book deal with St. Martin's, is currently finishing book three, THE GYPSY WHEEL, and is gearing up to tackle number four.

Writing thrillers is a job Rob only dreamed of for many years and he thanks the stars every day that he finally got a chance to fulfill that dream.

Simple is a great word. And concept. So many people don't realize that simplicity in your writing can be a true blessing. Keep the writing simple, the ideas complex. Or something like that. I'm ha... Read More »

Enter Late, Leave Early

That's the beauty of so much of what we do. The manipulation, the thought, the sweat that goes into it is generally invisible to the reader (or viewer) -- or at least it SHOULD be. Maybe that's why... Read More »

Legacy

The last time I saw him, he looked as if he were sleeping. But then I realized that there was an unnatural stillness there. No gentle rise and fall of the chest, no sounds but the muffled cacophony of the hospital ICU unit just beyond the closed door. What struck me was how small my father looked. He was naked, except for a tiny modesty cloth draped over his midsection. The tubes and wires that had been attached to him for the last few days had been removed, but he was still surrounded by mach…

I've Been Virtualized

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Second Life, but it's an "online 3D virtual world imagined and created by its residents." My sister Scoti is heavy into Second Life and can easily tell you all about it, but I'm something of a novice in that world. Yesterday, however, I was a guest on Authors in Your Pocket, a Second Life virtual world broadcast on SLCN.TV, which is hosted by L. Peggy Hicks. It…

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

I'm a little late with this post. The mass market paperback of KISS HER GOODBYE came out yesterday and I was able to sign a bunch of copies on Sunday for the Mystery Bookstore in Westwood. They look gorgeous, if I do say so myself. (Oh, wait, I didn't have anything to do with the design.) Anyway, I hope those of you who haven't read it yet will rush out to your local independent bookseller, your local B & N or Borders, your local Walmart or, hopefully, your local supermarket to pick up a co…

LA Times Festival of Books

On Sunday, April 27th, I'll be signing at the LA Times Festival of Books on the UCLA campus in Westwood, CA. You can find me at 2pm in Booth #411, the Mystery Bookstore booth, along with my buddy Brett Battles and several other authors. And if you can't make it on Sunday, the Mystery Bookstore is throwing a party at their digs in Westwood in honor of the festival. I'll be there alo…

Rob, Heidi hasn't given me a date, but it she said it would be a Saturday. I am off to SleuthFest in a few hours, so when I get back I will call her and set a date and time. Long run from Thousand Oaks to Westwood, so it will probably be the same day! Will let you know as soon as it's set. Look forward to getting you to sign your book.

Rob, just talked with Bobby at The Mystery Book Store. I will there to sign, Chasin' the Wind, on July 19. Hope you can come by and say hi. Going to be at Mysteries to Die For, in Thousand Oaks too. Also, what's the latest on your next book?

Rob, glad to be aboard and look forward to you new book. Mine will be out the end of March and I have signings in the LA area. Mystery & Imagination, in Glendale, asked if I could get some writers to sign along with me - newbie, I guess - so if your book is out, maybe you'd want to join me?
